How to Use Butterscotch in Your Cooking?

Perhaps you were once like me, a person who feared using butterscotch in your kitchen. Butterscotch is one of those ingredients that are rather over powering and only go with a few things, in small doses.
Butterscotch seems to come in and out of fashion, Christmas time being its more popular.   So to add some butterscotch recipes to your Christmas desert arsenal, here are a few recipes that have worked for me:

Oatmeal Scotchies
Oatmeal butterscotch cookies are an amazing invention.  You need one and a fourth cup of white flour, a teaspoon of baking soda, a half teaspoon of salt and cinnamon, a cup of butter, a cup and a half of sugar, two eggs, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, three cups of oats, and two cups of butterscotch chips. Before you start mixing, make sure to preheat your oven to 375F. Mix the dry ingredient together in a separate bowl from the liquids. Then mix in together, gradually adding the oats and chips. Once everything is mixed form small cookies and bake!
Apple Chip Cookies
This recipe is for a cookie and a glaze, so make sure you make them separately. For the cookie you need a cup of brown sugar, a fourth cup butter, a half cup cream, an egg, a half teaspoon baking soda,, salt, and nutmeg, a cup of peeled and chopped apples, a cup of walnuts, and a half cup of butterscotch chips. Beat the egg, sugar, and butter into a bowl until completely smooth. Then mix in the dry ingredients, adding the apples, nuts, and cups last. Bake the cookies for ten minutes. For the glaze you need butter, cinnamon, cream, and sugar-melt them together and spread onto the cookies when they are done. Place one walnut on each warm cookie and serve!
Buttery butterscotch Frosting
Now if these two recipes don't strike your fancy, but you want to add butterscotch to your own baked goodies, try this butterscotch frosting. You need a bag of butterscotch chips, a third cup of milk, two tablespoons of butter, half a teaspoon of salt, and three cups of confectioners' sugar. Melt the ingredients together and serve on any baked good you want!
